Note that last year the the American Customer Satisfaction Index released a report that placed Facebook at the top (or the bottom, depending how you look at it) of our most disliked online companies.
At the time, Larry Freed, president and CEO of Foresee Results wrote (PDF/Press Release):
[O]ur research shows that privacy concerns, frequent changes to the website, and commercialization and advertising adversely affect the consumer experience. Compare that to Wikipedia, which is a non-profit that has had the same user interface for years, and it’s clear that while innovation is critical, sometimes consumers prefer evolution to revolution.
So maybe one of the best things Google+ has going for it is that people are looking for anything (anything!) besides Facebook to move on to. Then again, with 700 million and counting members, I wouldn’t hold my breath. The company’s created the perfect prisoner’s dilemma.
Cartoon: XKCD.
